St. Stephen’s Green, Dublin

The tranquil St. Stephen’s Green, beloved by Dubliners and with a colourful history, is a great place to unwind, enjoy a picnic, or feed the ducks. During the 1916 Uprising, special dispensation was granted to park keepers on both sides. Hostilities were suspended on a daily basis so that the ducks could be properly fed. Only in Dublin could this happen.

Nowadays, “The Green,” as it’s affectionately known locally, boasts beautifully kept gardens, the ubiquitous Duck Pond, a picturesque bridge, recreation grounds, mature trees to rest beneath, and a playground.

Many of Dublin’s premier Georgian buildings surround the perimeter, including the iconic Shelbourne Hotel, founded in 1824, where afternoon tea in the Lord Mayor’s Lounge is considered a real treat by many.…
